BOBCATS CONTINUE TO DEPRESS, FALL TO KINGS 119-83

We need a silver lining, right?  Gillie the Kidd shot 50% from the floor, was perfect from the free throw line, and grabbed 6 boards.

 

Watching Bobcats games as of late is becoming hazardous to any fan's health.  It is one thing to watch a young team develop its youth, and see its youth growing while they lose by reasonable margins, but it is something completely different when the team just gets embarrassed night in and night out.  Take the jump for the Bobcats box score on the night, and a brief...brief commentary.

 

 

Here at Trade Street Post, we have always promised to never candy coat a situation.  We had determined that we would not recap any game where the Bobcats did not put forth the effort worthy of the time involved in writing a recap.  Well, in order to continue to have something to publish, I fear that the best thing we can do is to share the box score that our team put out for the night and point out the good and the bad.

The good:

I can say that since we have the 2nd game of a back-to-back tomorrow night, the minutes were spread among all of the team except for Brendan Haywood and Tyrus "Amnesty Hopeful" Thomas.  Too bitter for you?  Well, you're going to have to deal with it because there is no team in the NBA that would take Tyrus Thomas in a trade right now, so him not on the floor is a blessing for us.  We need a blessing...oh yeah...the is the "Good" category...Gillie the Kidd shot 50% from the floor, was perfect from the foul line, and grabbed 6 rebounds.  I shared that in the opening picture, but you really have to dig to find other good stuff...and here you are.  Our leading scorers were Gerald Henderson and Byron Mullens, each with 12 points.  7-feet of smooth tossed in 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal while Hendo put out 3 rebounds & 3 assists.  Reggie Williams was our only player with a PER in the +...he was a +2 because he played the whole 4th quarter during garbage time, and gave 4-6 shooting and 9 points, a rebound and 2 assists with zero turnovers.  McRoberts gave us some hustle tonight, contributing 2 blocks, a steal, and 6 rebounds.  He also chipped in 6 points on a 3-for-12 shooting performance...yep drifting to the bad...so I might as well just go there.

The Bad:

Leading scorers having 12 points is plenty to win games...in Middle School and perhaps high school, but not the NBA.  Look back up at that box score for us.  12, 12, 11, 10, 9, 9, 6...horrible.  Just horrible.  Did Biyombo get hurt or something?  I mean, 24 minutes for Diop?  Has he played that many minutes all season?  I would have almost taken "Amnesty Hopeful" over seeing him run around on the court, and Biyombo only getting 6 minutes.  What other misery should I share?  We shot 36.4% tonight...26.1 from 3-point land...13 turnovers...

I can't stomach writing any more. 

I love this team and we are with you for the long haul, but watching the game, I just get this feeling that Coach Dunlap could tell the guys that there was a million dollars for the first player to drink some Gatorade, and no one would even move.  We can all see the body language the team is putting out there, and it isn't pretty.  Mullens is mad after every play, Henderson looks totally dejected, and the youth...bless the youth.  Poor Kemba, Kidd-Gilchrist, Taylor, and Biyombo.  They try so hard.  Coach Dunlap was supposed to be so great at developing our youth.  The problem is that this should be a job for an assistant coach.  Unfortunately, Dunlap is our head man.  I fully bought into his philosophy, and I really did think that this guy would make a difference.  I bought it in Summer League, I bought it in Training Camp, and I even bought it on our 7-5 start.  The problem is that even the guys who bought into it...I don't think they are buying any more.  They are sick of losing and they want a new path to follow.  We have tons of young talent.  Originally I was thinking that we would be like the Clippers when they had first gotten Blake Griffin.  We'd see a lot of losses, but they would be fun to watch.  It was fun for 12 games.  It isn't fun anymore.  I can see that Biyombo is really learning a lot.  I can see that Gillie (I'm tired of the MKG moniker, so I've switched to Gillie the Kidd) is starting to get comfortable in the NBA...as comfortable as a 19-year-old can get on a team that is 13-46.  I keep looking for Taylor to hit the stride he was in when he was starting in place of an injured Henderson, but he just keeps getting hit with touch fouls that discourages him further.  Kemba...bless your heart...I see the all-star that you have become in 1 short year's time.  Your back must be so sore from trying to carry our Bobcats along.  I can only pray that you, Bismack, Taylor, and Gillie the Kidd have the patience that all of us fans do, and can see the big picture unfolding.  As our young core gets better and more experienced, and, if the draft lottery would just fall in our favor 1 FREAKING TIME...we will become a long-term playoff team that may even win a ring or 2 while you're here.  I just hope you guys don't jump ship before that happens.

In conclusion, we lost again, more strange time outs and substitutions, lifeless play...just disappointing basketball in general.  Perhaps we were saving up for tomorrow night, when we face the Portland Trailblazers...in Portland.  Yep, it's going to be another late night.  I hope we show up.  I Tweeted Byron Mullens that I wasn't going to shave my beard until we won again...I'm hoping I don't look like Z Z Top come this summer...
