Yep, you're reading the headlines correct. For the first time ever, the Bobcats defeated the Dallas Mavericks by a score of 101 to 97. It took some bonus time, but they did it. Kemba Walker and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist led the way with 51 of the Bobcats points.
Take the jump for a few more details.

Fortunately, no one in my house was asleep during the Bobcats game tonight. I was in full Cats Crazy mode, on my feet, screaming at the TV, and calling plays, calling fouls...you name it. I was telling my sons that the ball would go to Carter or Mayo...and it would...and the Bobcats would get the stop.
So glad we got this victory. We are now 2-3 on the season, and this was a win coming in the 2nd game of a back-to-back, away-home game set.

As far as blowing up the team in terms of positives and negatives, I can only say we need to work more on rebounding and defense. We squandered a lead in the 1st quarter, and slid to quite a deficit. Fortunately, our Bobcats kept their composure, found the ability to score points and play defense. It was a hard fought win that truly shows that we are a team that can, will, and is changing our culture. It is refreshing to see Kemba Walker developing into an elite PG in this league. It was also refreshing to see Gillie step up and become the leader that these young Bobcats needed tonight. Hustle, grit, and determination assisted TougherFasterStronger tonight in order for the Bobcats to walk away with this win.

Let me give you some stats for tonight's game:
Kemba Walker = 26pts – 8 Steals – 7 assists – 6 rebounds
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist = 25 points – 12 rebounds – 1 steal – 2 blocks
Ramon Sessions = 12 points – 4 assists
Ben Gordon = 11 points
Jeff Taylor = 8 points – 6 rebounds – 2 steals – 2 blocks
Byron Mullens = 7 points – 14 rebounds

Even Gana Diop had a small stat line with 1 rebound – 1 assist – 1 steal – 1 block
It wasn't a lot, but thanks for doing a little something Gana.

Trade Street Post game-breaker award goes to Kemba Walker and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. That combined effort of 51 points, and their willingness to take control of the team and lead them to a victory tonight gives them every right to hoist the game-breaker award high.

So happy for this win tonight, and not a lot can be said other than you can see that the rookies are coming up to speed quickly. Gillie and Taylor-Made are getting into the groove. Remember that we won this game tonight with Henderson on the bench with his injured foot. With us at full strength, perhaps overtime wouldn't have been necessary. These Bobcats are so much more fun to watch this season, and if you've been a fan, you can definitely see that there is a change underway. Bobcats basketball is undergoing the culture change.
